Ababu Namwamba Foundation (ANF) today released certified seeds from Kenya Seed Company for distribution to farmers in Budalangi and other parts of Busia County. This is the second year running that farmers in the county are receiving this kind of support.
The first batch of 12 tonnes of seeds were flagged off at Port Victoria Market by officials of the Foundation and local leaders among them MCAs from Busia County Assembly. They included Bunyala West MCA Hon Tabu Were (Labour) who is also the Deputy Minority Leader in the Busia County Assembly and Mr. Godfrey Obayi who is an official of ANF.
This initiative is being stepped up in line with the Food Security agenda that is among the core pillars of the Big4 vision of His Excellency President Uhuru Kenyatta. The Big 4 are Food Security, Affordable Housing, Universal Healthcare and Manufacturing.
Local leaders and farmers thanked the Chief Adminstrative Secretary for Foreign Affairs and International Trade, Hon Ababu Namwamba, EGH for making this initiative possible. Distribution of the seeds will cover Busia County.
