Ababu Namwamba Foundation (ANF) last Saturday hosted a historic inter-denominational Prayer Breakfast for all the 637 KCSE 2015 candidates in Budalang'i Constituency.
The unique occassion was symbolically hosted at the upcoming MMUST Bunyala Campus, Mundere and brought together students, principals, teachers, parents, the clergy across diverse faiths, the education office led by the DEO, security organs led by the OCPD and Abanyala University Students Association (AUSA) representef Chairman Victor Onyimbo. Motivational talks and career guidance were afferent by eminent speakers that included by Dr. Kevin Osuri who chairs the ANF Board of Trustees; Ms Lucy Musitwa, ANF scholar who has just returned from Cuba with a Bsc. Chemical Engineering degree; and Dr. Frank Musitwa, prominent author and publisher born and raised in Mukhobola village. Equity Bank Busia Branch Manager, KCB Port Victoria Branch and MCAs Fred Musirimba and Chris Nakitare also graced the very well attended breakfast sponsored by ANF with the objective of committing the candidates to God while also motivating, inspiring and guiding them on career choices before they formally face the exams from this Thursday October 15th.
A wide array of prizes were committed to motivate candidates, including:
  1. Equity Bank Scholarships a smart phone for the best overall KCSE candidate in Bunyala.
  2. KCB Scholarships for best performers.
  3. Full four year Ababu Namwamba Foundation schorlaship for the top candidate who scores a straight A.
  4. special ANF laptop for each top student in every school who qualifies for direct admission to public university. A sample of the laptops acquired by Hon. Ababu Namwamba in New York was passed around for the students to "feel" it in advance.
The candidates were also addressed by two young ladies from Iceland, Sòley and Sigmund, who challenged them to pass their exams and explore opportunities in Iceland. Hon Ababu visited Iceland in May and held high level talks with President Ragnar Grímsson which has set in motion close relations between Iceland and Budalang'i /Kenya.
ANF received a donation of calculators from the Verslo School Community and Kshs 10,000 from MCA Chris Nakitare in support of the Foundation's activities. Hon Ababu pledged the donations as part of prizes to be awarded to best performers in the KCSE 2015.

Hon Ababu Namwamba used the occasion to present success cards personally customised for each candidate (copy attached here).
ANF thanks everyone who made this event such a roaring success. It will now be an annual ceremony.
To the candidates, face your future with confidence and valour. As Eleanor Roosevelt would poetically put it, "the future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams". Go forth, Dream Big...Act Smart!
