The Ababu Namwamba Foundation (ANF) continues to expand its reach and impact and remains steadfast in its commitment to supporting talents and opening doors of opportunities for the youths.
The foundation has been a catalyst for artistic expression, providing a platform for young ones to showcase their skills on a larger stage.
One such initiative is the Busia County Film and Drama Festival that happened in Busia. The foundation, together with the Talanta Hela initiative played a crucial role in awarding the winners of the event.
According to Busia County Drama Chairperson Hellen Sirengo, the support of the foundation made the event a resounding success. Sirengo who doubles up as the Principal of Nyakwaka noted that the hall was well decorated, students were transported to and from the venue, and top performers were rewarded thanks to the ANF.
“We are grateful that Talanta Hela and the Ababu Namwamba Foundation have come in strongly to support our 2024 edition of the Film and Drama Festival. The Foundation has also decorated our hall,” Sirengo said.
Her sentiments were echoed by the event’s executive secretary Tom Ayego who explained that there is hope for the future of the talented kids, with the help of the association.
“Eight sub-counties from Busia County each brought two items. It has provided an avenue for students to showcase their talents. The students can perform even better. We aim to monetize these talents so that they can earn from this. God bless the ANF,” Ayego noted.
On his side, the event’s organizing secretary Moffan Otwala was grateful to the foundation for holding their hand for a decade now. He called for more partners to come on board to propel the event to the next level.
“I am delighted for the support we have received from the Ababu Namwamba Foundation and the Talanta Hela initiative It has been a journey since 2014 and the foundation has held our hand. Western region has the potential. We are requesting for more equipment to record such events,” Otwala offered.
